Anishinaabek lived a nomadic life where they moved from place to place. People moved every three to four months to replenish the land they occupied and to follow the birds and animals in season. The animals and fish are friends as they sacrifice themselves to us for food, tools, and clothing. The land provides tools for us to use and to recognize the habitats and landmarks of nature. The sun is Manitou as it gives us life. We give respect to those who lived before us by not mentioning their names, instead we use pronouns to acknowledge loved ones.
