Narrator: The new gallery at Ontario Place is the only facility in southern Ontario designed specifically to display northern art, graphics, and sculpture. The inauguration of the gallery was marked by a previously unshown exhibition of drawings and paintings by native artist Norval Morrisseau. Northern Affairs Minister Leo Bernier was impressed with the display of Morrisseau’s artwork and pleased with the interest being shown in northern and native culture.

Leo Bernier: I think it’s very appropriate that this pavilion should be opened up for the first time with a northern Ontario artist and particularly with an artist of Norval Morrisseau’s fame and acclaim.

Narrator: Bernier said the new gallery is bound to be a focal point for the entire Ontario North Now complex.
